Jesus Christ, sent by God, calls us, who are the parishioners of Saint Mary’s Church in Palmdale and members of the Roman Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, to be the disciples and witnesses reflecting Christ’s love to our families, parish and community.
The Gospel and traditions of the Church show that love and service are necessary for the uplifting of the Body of Christ. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, we are moved through scripture, the sacraments and prayer to welcome all people and to recognize their needs as our community grows in unity.
We as a parish family wish to welcome, encourage, educate and serve all God’s people who live within the vast boundaries of our parish. We acknowledge the obligation to provide for this offering spiritual formation, Christian service, worship and social events that are open to all.
Strengthened by Our Lord in the Eucharist, and following the example of our patron, Saint Mary, our Mother, to bring all people together as one family in Christ.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church
Palmdale, CA
St. Mary's Church was originally established in 1890 as a Mission of Sacred Heart Church, Lancaster. In early 1920's the Jack Stinson family donated a parcel of land at 9th Street East and Avenue Q-9. With volunteer labor, a permanent place of worship was built and dedicated by Right Reverend John J. Cantwell, Bishop of Los Angeles, on October 19, 1924. Ongoing fundraising efforts to continue to pay for our new buildings, and progress continues to be made toward realizing permanent church facilities for the Acton and Lake Los Angeles Mission Communities. As the Antelope Valley continues to grow, our vast and active parish community of Saint Mary's continues to grow with it.
